Jim Wojtowicz is an American mixed media artist based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Originally from Massachusetts, he relocated to the west coast to study at Art Center College of Design, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising Design.

He has worked as a Creative Director across multiple disciplines including advertising, branding, experiential events and magazine and book publishing. Wojtowicz has been an artist all his life, but has only recently started showing his work.

His maximalist approach is directly influenced by his career in advertising and reflects a love / hate relationship with the notion of constant reinvention. He considers his art process a form of cathartic therapy that helps him purge the continuous influx of information we all suffer from by living in a hyper digital world.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

“My work explores the interconnection between pop culture, dreams, memories and imagination, and frequently includes elements from all four categories.

“I’m both fascinated and creeped out by the vast amount of information we are exposed to every day, and my art making process allows me to filter, curate and creatively leverage it on an ongoing basis.

“My influences range from cave paintings to artificial intelligence and I’m a huge fan of employing intentional serendipity / purposeful accidents into my work, as the results are usually better than the direction it was headed.

“While I often use found imagery and a personal vocabulary of mark making techniques, I am media agnostic and employ any new process or material that adds to the success of the piece.”
