12 Nov New Artist Representation Announcement
Gallery 30 South announces two new exclusive artist representation partnerships
The Pop Sequentialism Collection grew out of my life-long love of comics. As a collector first and a gallerist second, I am always discovering new artists whose work is extraordinary but not necessarily exhibition-themed. When I was informed that our brick-and-mortar showroom in Pasadena was going to be sold, it was a catalyst for reconsidering the function of Pop Sequentialism as an entity of Gallery 30 South. I knew that whatever version of the gallery emerged, it would prominently feature commercial illustration in addition to fine art.
The first two artists we’ll be representing under this new mission are Joseph Arnold (aka Blayden Hunter) and Cillian Cubstead. Both have been active for a long time in the indie publishing world of comics and zines, where their work stands out for extraordinary detail and dynamic composition. Arnold is a full-time police officer, and co-creator (with Eisner Award Winner, Mike Baron) of THIN BLUE LINE, who uses the pseudonym Blayden Hunter for his adult comix work. His style is something of a call back to early 80s Eastman & Laird with elements of William Messner-Loebs. Cubstead is the co-founder of Plot Twist Publishing, and writer/artist on ARCHANGEL AURORA which showcases a set of illustration chops reminiscent of Tim Vigil and Mike Deodato.
We’ll be debuting their work as part of Comic Art Live’s virtual comic art convention during the weekend of November 12-13, 2022. We will continue to showcase their work on the Pop Sequentialism website and announce special art drops in tandem with the publication of new comics and graphic novels.

Sincerely,
