Submission Policy

Due to the volume of submissions received, GALLERY 30 SOUTH cannot and will not respond to all of them.

Following exactly the submission protocol outlined below is the best way to ensure a reply. Do not follow-up. If we are interested in pursuing exhibition opportunities after receiving your submission, we will contact you. You are welcome to submit new work at least one year from your previous submission. Not sooner.

You should include images of at least 10 pieces of artwork with you submission. Include some kind of estimate of suggested retail pricing.

If you are accepted into a show it is your responsibility to get your artwork to us and to retrieve it if it does not sell. Work not retrieved within 30 days of of term outlined in your exhibition agreement is considered, Legally Abandoned and may be discarded, gifted or otherwise disposed-of at our discretion –and no commission will be paid. It is your responsibility to contact the gallery on the last date of the show to verify if your work has sold or if you need to arrange for its return. That gives you a full month from the end of the show to work out return details.

We also host virtual shows that do not require you sending the artwork to us, but if accepted into an exhibition you will be responsible for packing and shipping any artworks that sell to patrons who purchase them from us. You will be reimbursed for a set range of postage costs. That amount will be disclosed with the ship-to address so you know the budget you have to work with. If you choose to spend more than that, you can do so but you will only be reimbursed for the amount previously disclosed. We are very good at shipping cost estimates and generally over-compensate slightly to avoid loss. We usually pay your commission with three business days of verified safe delivery.

Legibly write your name and the title of your artwork on the back side of the artwork. There are frequently over 1000 pieces on the premises at any given time, and not having your info on the artwork makes it difficult on gallery staff. Making it difficult on gallery staff makes it unlikely that we’ll want to work with you ever again and can cause delays in returning your work.

Take a look at the past exhibitions archived on the site. This will help showcase the variety of styles that we have chosen to represent over the years and provide an indication of what kind of work our clientele likes. Quite a few of our past exhibitions have the prices still listed. That’s probably a good guide for pricing your work in your submission.

We split the retail price between gallery and artist 50% to each. You get half, we get half. After two weeks, gallery has the authority to offer a 10% discount off the retail price, which artist and gallery split evenly. Pricing is an important criteria in our jurying process. If we don’t think your art is priced appropriately, we may request a price change. If we can’t agree on a price, it won’t be accepted. We know our buyers, and we want you to have success.

When you send us the images of your art, you need to send us one jpeg for each artwork, measuring 1500 pixels tall and wide at 72ppi. That sizes out to 20.883 inches x 20.883 inches at that resolution. It should be a clear image of the artwork in the correct aspect ratio (not at an angle) on a white or black background with one-quarter inch of extra room around the circumference of the artwork -whether rectangle, round or square.

You can right-click this template (above) to save for use with your submission to ensure the correct ratio.

The files should be titled in this template:
YourLastName_title-of-artwork.jpg

Send that email to: info@gallery30south.com
The subject line of your submission email should be:
NEW ARTIST SUBMISSION

Include the following info for each submitted artwork in the body of your submission email:
Artist Name
Title of Artwork
Description of Media (acrylic on board, etc.)
$ Retail Price (in U.S Dollars).

Even if you think I have your info I need you to include your complete contact info with your submission. That’s your legal name (for the show agreement and so I can pay you when your art sells), your mailing address, your Paypal address (or Venmo, or Cashapp), and your telephone number. If I don’t get ALL that info, I will not accept your submissions. If your info changes after you submit, send me an email with your updated info.

WE PAY VIA PAYPAL, VENMO or CASHAPP. I send the payment as a gift if possible.
If you don’t have a Paypal, Venmo, or Cashapp account, or aren’t otherwise willing to pay for bankwiring charges, don’t submit.

DO NOT SEND US ANY PHYSICAL ARTWORK UNLESS YOU RECEIVE AN ACCEPTANCE EMAIL FROM US. We will not be responsible for any delivered or dropped-off work that was not specifically accepted for inclusion via an email from us explicitly stating so.
We will notify you of acceptance or non-acceptance.

Be sure that accepted artworks are well packed to arrive undamaged, but not over-packed to the point that it takes twenty minutes to unpack them.

DO NOT DELIVER WET PIECES. If we can’t touch the surface of the artwork because the paint hasn’t dried, we can’t hang them, and the probability that they are going to stick to something and get ruined is high. We will not be responsible for damage to your art if it is not 100% dry and ready for display.

DO NOT EXPECT US TO KEEP YOUR PACKAGING. It just isn’t possible for us to hang onto your packing materials. Please pack your art safely, but please don’t overdo it.

Payments will be issued within 30 days of the end of the show, but most likely you’ll get paid long before that deadline.

Gallery 30 South retains the exclusive right of sale for all contracted artworks for one calendar year from the end of the exhibition. This entitles Gallery 30 South to 50% of the sale price for the full term. This exclusivity remains in place whether or not the art is in our possession or yours.

We are ONLY looking for analog techniques (drawing, painting, sculpting, non-digital photography).

THIS ENTIRE PAGE OF TEXT MUST BE COPIED & PASTED TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SUBMISSION EMAIL. SUBMISSION DENOTES AGREEMENT WITH ALL TERMS OUTLINED HEREIN. If this entire set of rules is not attached to the bottom of your submission, it will not be reviewed, and therefore will not be accepted.

Sincerely,

Matt Kennedy
