Description

Don Fritz’ work evolved from an early interest in Pop Art and icons of American pop culture expressed through popular imagery and cultural artifacts–both literally and metaphorically.

He is fascinated with the psychological disavowal that is required to live with and accept the pervasive cultural narratives of childhood, power, and gender. Through techniques of layering and erasing of visual elements, conflicting ideas develop a trace of the psychological process of pop culture symbols. In reworking the surface, each layer brings a deeper understanding of the dialectics of the issues being addressed.

His work is in the following collections:
Museum of Modern Art, New York, Microsoft Corporation, Otaru Museum (Hokaido, Japan), Cheech Marin, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Milos Forman, Billy Shire, Mark Ryden, and Johnny Depp.
His resume of exhibitions and honors would be nearly twenty pages long.
