An exact-size tribute to Christopher Wool’s seminal 1988 text work (on canvas rather than aluminum), utilizing elements of Bob Peak’s key art illustrations for Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 film masterpiece–which yielded the quote, “Sell the house / Sell the Car / Sell the Kids.” Rather than settle with the black on white text of the original, Panik Collective chose to return the message from a metaphor about the late 80s Black Monday stock market crash to the anti-war message of the film script. The wraps are painted in reverse to the central image, leaving a secret for whoever buys and frames it.
Exhibited at Art Shanghai (November 2017). Ships rolled.
