After the New Order album of the same name, original cover design by Peter Saville of a painting by Henri Fantin-Latour. Following the death of Joy Division singer, Ian Curtis, his bandmates would regroup and relaunch as New Order, responsible for the single highest-selling 12” single, “Blue Monday.” This album gets its title from a 1981 conceptual art exhibition in Cologne, where Gerhard Richter vandalized the Kunsthalle by spray painting Power Corruption and Lies on the exterior on opening night.
Exhibited at Indy MOCA in 2014, Houston Museum of Drawing (June-December 2016), Art Shanghai (November 2017). Ships rolled.
