June 2 – 26, 2020

Opening Reception: Sunday, June 7th, 3-6PM

Internationally acclaimed graphic designer Wayne Hunt has returned to his first creative love, mixed-media fine art. For many years Mr. Hunt managed Pasadena-based Hunt Design, a consulting firm specializing in signage programs and exhibit design for cities, The Walt Disney Company, National Park Service, Kennedy Space Center, Hollywood Bowl and many others. He (and the firm) is the recipient of numerous design awards and the work was consistently selected for professional publication. Three posters designed by Mr. Hunt are in the permanent decorative arts collection at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

He is a long-term adjunct professor at Art Center College of Design and has been a guest critic at the USC Schools of Architecture, Design and Film and lectured at multiple universities including UCLA, University of Illinois and Harvard Graduate School of Design.

In 2015 Mr. Hunt began to share his ongoing personal mixed media art with friends and associates and in 2017 had a successful one-person show debut at Andlab Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. He mounted a second Andlab show in 2019. Mr. Hunt’s work is in many private collections.

This exhibition at Gallery 30 South is a collection of painted wood and galvanized steel box sculptures that recall the spirit of Jasper Johns while stressing the principles of design that have landed Wayne’s work in LACMA and other museums.
